The DFA is delighted to welcome our co-programme managers for the docSHARE programme 2023, Elelwani Netshifhire and Taryn Joffe.
docSHARE is an initiative of the Documentary Filmmakers Association of South Africa to create opportunities for experienced film professionals to share their knowledge and engage with the work and concerns of our existing and prospective members. We will offer five virtual DocShare webinar sessions during the first quarter of 2023, that will be open to the public. We will also be offering a support network for 10 Tier 3 filmmakers who want to apply for their first NFVF development funding where they access the docSHARE public sessions in addition to bespoke mentorship. The docSHARE programme is powered by the Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP3) administered by the NFVF.
“docSHARE presents an exciting opportunity for South African filmmakers and responds directly to industry needs to upskill practitioners. The generous support of PESP funding for the project, administered by the NFVF, will assist our documentary industry to expand and thrive. It is a privilege to be working with the DFA to realise this initiative and promote knowledge-sharing,” says Taryn.
“I am thrilled to be working with the DFA as a co-programme manager for DocSHARE as it echoes something I strongly believe in: paying it forward in any way possible. A mentorship programme like this offers tangible ways that not only encourage telling meaningful stories that shape our communities, but boosts confidence in those inducted”, says Elelwani.
The docSHARE selected trainees, mentors and webinar schedule will be announced by the end of this month. The docSHARE programme is powered by the Presidential Employment Stimulus Programme (PESP3) administered by the NFVF.
