It is with shock and deep sadness that the DFA board learned this morning of Milly Takalani Mulaudzi’s sudden passing. Milly was an integral part of the DFA board since 2019 and last year her exemplary leadership as the South African Screen Federation (SASFED) co-chair saw the industry body navigate the screen sector’s most challenging time to date during the COVID-19 pandemic. In countless meetings with key industry stakeholders and fellow filmmakers as both SASFED co-chair and DFA board member, Milly’s utter professionalism and dedication to the best outcomes for the industry made her a formidable and well respected advocate for our sector. Milly was a friend, colleague, mentor and ally to many, she is a beloved mother of two children and wife to her partner. We extend our heartfelt condolences to her family at this difficult time.
Her loss is felt deeply. She is gone too soon. Rest well dear Milly.
