Africa’s premier film industry event, the Durban FilmMart, will move online for its 2020 edition. The event, which was planned for the last week in July will now have new dates in August, and will be hosted as a virtual summit still incorporating most of its programmes including the Talents Durban in partnership with the Berlinale Talents.

“As we move the DFM into a virtual space, we are delighted to announce that we are also extending the submission deadline for both DFM Projects and Talents Durban,” explains Toni Monty Head of the Durban FilmMart. “While nothing quite replaces the face-to-face pitch and the networking that the DFM provides, we are excited about the prospects of involving many more filmmakers with creative works in development into this year’s edition.”

Projects submissions for the DFM will re-open on 1 May and close on 15 May on the DFM website (http://www.durbanfilmmart.co.za/ProjectSubmissions). Talents Durban is still open on the Talents submission portal on the DFM website (http://www.durbanfilmmart.co.za/Talents-Durban) and the closing date has also been extended to 15 May, 2020. Talents Durban is still open on the Talents submission portal https://www.berlinale-talents.de/bt/durban/ap/info/index and the closing date has also been extended to 15 May, 2020.

DFM projects that have already submitted and would like to update their submission should email their updates to info@durbanfilmmart.com. The date and format of the virtual programme will be announced at the end of May. For more info go to www.durbanfilmmart.co.za
