Applications are now open for Berlinale Talents 2021! Apply by September 1, 2020, 12:00 noon (CEST).
Despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we hope you’re healthy, in good spirits and pursuing your creative projects where possible. At Berlinale Talents, we’re working on creating a safe edition in February 2021 that will hopefully be able to welcome everybody to Berlin. In order to react flexibly to shifting circumstances while upholding our core values of inclusion and diversity, we plan to expand our digital offerings and partnerships to reach participants and audiences who might not be able to attend in person.
With this call for entries, we’d like to encourage you to keep working with us towards a future where film connects and unites people. We look forward to meeting you!
Who Can Apply
Actors – New: Audience Designers – Cinematographers – Directors – Distributors – Editors – Film Critics – Producers – Production Designers – Sales Agents – Screenwriters – Score Composers – Sound Designers.
Berlinale Talents is aimed at emerging filmmakers and series creators who have made at least two or more shorts, a feature film or a high-quality series that have screened internationally.
Creating access to films, both in local communities and online, has never been more important. We’re now officially welcoming emerging curators and founders of audience-centred cinema spaces, VOD platforms and other film initiatives to apply for Berlinale Talents as „audience designers“.

Talents Labs
Want to advance your latest project? Apply for the Doc Station, Script Station or Short Form Station to receive mentoring, finesse your material and present it to industry players. Producers can submit their advanced feature-length projects to the Talent Project Market to meet potential co-producers and funders. Learn more and explore last year’s projects.
Our Studios are dedicated to specific disciplines – acting, cinematography, editing, production design, score composition, sound design, and distribution, sales and audience design. Small group settings offer you the chance to learn from experts and peers through case studies and hands-on exercises. Find out more.
Talent Press invites ten emerging film critics to cover the Berlinale with all its offerings. Under the guidance of noted mentors, they attend screenings and events, write reviews and essays, and perfect their individual style and voice. Visit the Talent Press website.

Alumni Applicants
We’d love to welcome you back as an alum. There are two ways to return.
